I've bored my 289 .80" over. Now fitting a standard head gasket, l see its slightly too big. It impeads over the cylinder by a few thou. Will it cause any problems? Or do l need to get a head gasket which allows for the .80" over bore?

Yes, the gasket overhanging the cylinder is not good practice. What gasket are you using? The recent production FelPro have been good up to .117" overbore. Any possibility you've got a Really Old Stock 232" gasket?
